This is a little peek into my craft room redo . . . it's not done, so I'm not showing you the whole shebang! Some day, I will, hopefully some day soon. But, I really don't like organizing, so it could be a while! Anyway, here are some of the bins I made to fit a unique piece of furniture that is part of the fabulous (and ALL matching) set I got for this room. I'll share more on that later, too! Back to this project though . . . these bins are completely free, can be made in any size, and are easily personalizable. (Apparently "personalizable" is not a word - whatever.) Gather some boxes that are close in size to what you want, some strong scissors, and some manner of wrapping (I used some of my children's artwork!). You'll note, my brick floor is now white, and it is GORGEOUS!
Now, before I go on, I will show you the "before" and "middle, part 1" of my craft room. As you can see, I needed some serious organizing, and yes, there are 5 chairs visible in this picture. I want you to know that this is a typical "before" picture. . . imagine this room with an unhappy look on her face, no make-up, bad hair, and some serious saddle bags hanging out from an unflattering swim suit bottom. I did not straighten one thing up, or move any of the miscellaneous extra stuff that gradually accumulates. I wanted it to look bad, which hopefully will make the "after" look even more fabulous!!
Again, I kept it really classy for this "empty room" shot - yes, that is an industrial sized Big Lots bag hanging from the brassy chandelier. And the shop vac really pulls the room together, don't you think?
Back to my organizing bins - to make them, I found some kid shoe boxes - which happened to be the perfect fit. Now is one of the rare moments in my life when hoarding things like cardboard boxes comes in handy! I cut the end of each box, joined them so that they were long enough to take up the whole shelf, and then wrapped it like a present in the beautiful artwork my daughter made (also hoarded - I just can't bear to throw it away!!).
See how perfectly they fit!! I am going to make 3 more to fit the other three shelves, and then comes the really hard part - organizing my ginormous and multi-faceted craft supply stash. Fortunately, for all of you, I am doing some weeding as I go, and I plan to have a giveaway of the most random assortment of supplies EVAH in a few days/weeks/months.... and the goodies are already too numerous to fit in this little bin!
