Most importantly here in our Homemade household, this past week brought the 4th birthday of my oldest child, aka my design assistant. After a day of hard celebrating, she passed out on the couch at 5:30, just before her birthday dinner.
Needless to say, I didn't have the heart to wake her up. She snoozed until it was time for cake - what perfect timing! Her big present is a night out with her daddy at a real ball - our local park district holds a daddy-daughter princess ball in February. She is VERY excited to go (and now daily asks if today is ball day). She got a little new bling to wear to said ball, as you can see from the gorgeous ring in the picture. Her little brother, aka Spatula Man, is confused about this whole "ball" business - he wants a ball, too - but I'm thinking his version is more the throw-able type! He was very well behaved and did not try to open any of the presents, though at one point he did ask in his nicest big boy voice, "I have Batman pesents, too, PEEEES?" Batman is his new favorite person, so I think he was hoping that if his sister was getting princess-themed presents, he could get the Batman version if he only asked nicely enough!
Do you like my new funky photos? I discovered the Instagram app last week and I'm addicted. Lucky for me, I found a linky party today to justify my obsession - now I have a reason to write weekly instagram posts! Join in over at let birds fly:
I can't wait to take my phone outside and get some more super-cool pictures! It seems as though instagrams and I are meant to be together - I already crop nearly all my blog images to square. I also found an app called Camera+ that promises DSLR results with the iphone . . . we'll see how that goes! I still love my big Canon - how can I not with shots like these?
Do you think I take their pictures too often? Can you tell they love posing? Spatula Man says "See PICture" as soon as you snap one of him, ah, my children of the digital age.
Coming soon - I have a tutorial on how to make the lovely little bow gracing my design assistant's head. She is such a cooperative model :)
