Those of you who watch children's animated movies may know this line from Tangled: "You're not leaving this tower . . . EVAH!" My daughter often says it, yelling that last word and pronouncing it just as I've spelled it, so we've added it to our family vernacular. You can frequently hear family and friends saying, "This is the the worst day . . . EVAH!" or "I am the happiest mom . . . EVAH!" Yes, we get strange looks when we're in public - but I'm in good company over here in Crazy Town, so I don't mind! Back to Christmas . . . we had such a wonderful time. I never realized how much more fun it would be to experience the traditions of my childhood through my children's eyes. They are now both old enough to understand all of what is going on, and it was the best Christmas EVAH! because of that.
My daughter got this amazing dollhouse from Santa (and my dad) - thus recreating the first and best memory I have of Christmas - I was 4 when I got my Barbie townhouse, complete with elevator! To date, it was the best tangible Christmas present I had gotten...
|Want to build your own - I found the plans here!|
Until this year - when my mom went over and above and way beyond - and got me a Silhouette Cameo! I was so overwhelmed I almost cried - ok, maybe I did cry just a little. And I don't cry! But, this was something I really wanted that I would never buy for myself and have not been lucky enough to win.
The Cameo is amazing - see what I already made? This really cool snowflake banner will replace my wreath which is now dropping needles when you so much as look at it sideways. You can make one, too, and you don't even need a Cameo - just follow the tips and tricks from these great pins to cut out snowflakes from paper all by yourself.
But, the Cameo is so much more fun, I'm not gonna lie. And I already had the perfect cardstock - white on one side and with a subtle light blue pattern on the other. That means I'm sticking to several of my NYR's - buy less, create more (more on that soon!) . . . wow, this year is really starting off with a bang!
I did cut the squares first - that made it a bit easier to pull them up and use them for a couple of cute winter cards.
|I cut (from L to R) a 5" wide row (2 squares & 1 left-over 2" rectangle), a 3" wide row (4 squares), a 4" wide row (3 squares)|
Then, I just taped the glittery yarn to the back of my snowflakes (giving them about 6" of room to flutter), and voila - banner, done.
Here are the cards: I plan to use them for thank-you notes.
If only they'd write themselves . . .
The possibilities are truly endless with cameo - I've already created a couple of my own designs - I'll share more on that soon!
Thanks, Mom & Dad (and everyone else!) for the best Christmas EVAH!
